Jen Eats The Streets at #FBC12

Watch out for the dashing food addict and avid supporter of the British street food scene, Jen Clayton from Hackney, London.

She is the food blogger responsible for Jen Eats the Streets.

Equipped with her Canon camera and iPhone now a Panasonic SD90, Jen gets behind the counter of food traders to reveal their story and top tips to setting up a food stall. #FBC12 Market will be packed with food traders and bloggers during the biggest social and networking hours of the conference. If you want to be in Jen’s radar for a film, get in touch with her here @JenEatsTheSts.

What are you most looking forward to about #FBC12?

Meeting people who are obsessed with food, like me!

What motivated you to blog about food?

I wanted to get behind the counter of street food stalls and get to know the people! I eat from street food markets most days so am fascinated in the story, the ups and downs, and obviously the FOOD!

How has food blogging changed your life?

It has allowed me to be creative, it’s an escape from my boring office job!

What do you find most challenging about blogging?

The quality of competition out there! And fitting in time to film, edit and write every weekend.

Future aspirations for the blog?

I’d love to film and write about street food traders all over the UK promoting their food businesses to the world!

Any comical kitchen failures?

When I was 12, I helped my Dad make casserole for dinner, instead of helping I nearly set the house on fire – I put an electrical slow cooker in the over. To this day I still ask myself why…WHY!?

Who taught you to cook?

My Nana, she is my food hero. She was a demonstratory ‘cook’ during the war and has the most wonderful choice of words when showing you something, my favourite being “just let the hurdy gurdy do the hard work” hurdy gurdy = food processor.

What celebrity or celebrity chef would you most like to break bread with? Why?

Nigella – she’d set up some soft lighting, liquor me up and I’d leave with left overs, which I can eat naughtily from the fridge at 2am…(obviously, I’d have to steal her silk dressing gown on my way out the door!).
