Kelvin Cheung is the founder and CEO of FoodCycle (@foodcycle), an award-winning UK charity that combines volunteers, surplus food, and spare kitchen spaces to create nutritious meals for people at risk from food poverty and social isolation.
He started the organisation in 2008 by combining his passions – food, community empowerment and cooking, with his frustrations – food waste, and the number of people hungry in the world.
In 2009, Kelvin won the 30 Entrepreneurs under 30 Award in the category of Social Enterprise. In 2011, he was shortlisted for the Charity Times’ Rising Star Award. Kelvin is the winner of UnLtd Level 1 and Level 2 Awards and a World Economic Forum Young Global Shaper. He is also an international speaker on community empowerment and food waste. Originally hailing from Canada, if not busy FoodCycling he can usually be found obsessively cycling.
Kelvin will be speaking at #FBC5 about ‘Creating Value from Waste: The FoodCycle Story’, talking about how FoodCycle began and why we should all be thinking about waste.
