Nutritious food blogger Grace (@alifeunhurried) from A Life Unhurried returns to #FBC5, telling us about her dilemma between Middle Eastern and Japanese food and what she’s looking forward to at #FBC5
What are you most looking forward to about #FBC5?
What motivated you to blog about food and how has food blogging changed your life?
My change in diet motivated me to start blogging about food. In doing so, my nutritional lifestyle has been ever-evolving as I continue to do more research through books and reading other bloggers’ experiences.
What’s your favourite/least favourite food? What’s been your ultimate meal to date? And what would your last meal be?
Middle Eastern food is vying to take the top spot with my palate over Japanese cuisine. As my diet evolves towards high plant-based, perhaps the former is favoured. Enjoying a myriad of small-sized plates filled with different dishes to share is what I enjoy about the style of Middle Eastern and Japanese cuisines. Roka on Charlotte Street is my favourite haunt. However, the ultimate dining experience for my husband and I was in the middle of the Arabian desert, sat at a low table on a Persian rug, just the two of us. We were served a mezze feast as two cooks prepared the dishes on an open-grill in the desert. Actually, I do have another ultimate dining experience to share, which was in the middle of the Serengeti, but that was neither Middle Eastern nor Japanese.
What’s your signature dish? If you want us to feature your favourite recipe from your own blog, include the link here!
Ottolenghi is my first resource when I want to prepare a cooked meal, otherwise, food prepared at home is Raw. A dish on my repertoire is Raw Spaghetti or Raw Pasta, of which I had my first taste two years ago in a Raw Masterclass. It makes its round in our household frequently as it is easy, simple, scrumptious and nutritious.
Do you have a favourite kitchen tool/appliance? What’s the hottest item on your shopping list? (can be current foodie favourite or a desired gadget/book etc)
I can’t believe I’ve lived without the Vitamix for as long as I have. Best kitchen investment, ever. Still on the shopping list is Bugatti. Bugatti Juicer, Bugatti Kettle, Bugatti Weighing Scale and Bugatti Coffee Machine for our guests.
