Welcome Eleni from On Top of Spaghetti to #FBC5

Eleni (@elvonee) from On Top of Spaghetti is looking forward to her first #FBC5 conference and tells us about making the transition into fulltime blogging!

What are you most looking forward to about #FBC5?

Ooh, all of it! Meeting other bloggers, learning tricks of the trade, and overeating!

What motivated you to blog about food and how has food blogging changed your life?

Funnily enough, it all started when I discovered Twitter. I started following bloggers, loved what they were doing, and after much procrastinating took the plunge and started my own. How has it changed my life? Well, I’ve just quit my day job to start a new Greek food blog and work on it full time! I’d say that’s quite a change!

Do you blog full time or, if not, what’s your day job? What does your family/partner think of your blog?

Until a few days ago I blogged in my free time, but when my new site is up and running I will be a full time blogger! The family members who actually read On Top Of Spaghetti think it’s great (or at least that’s what they tell me)! The Mister is incredibly supportive, he thinks I’m really good at it (bless him) and was actually the one who suggested I do it full time! (Although I’m not so sure he reads it..)

What are your future aspirations for the blog? From where do you get inspiration and who taught you to cook?

My aspirations for On Top Of Spaghetti are to keep it going during all the craziness that will come with the new Greek one! Inspiration comes from fellow bloggers, magazines, tv shows, anything with a recipe in it (I’ve even stolen pages from magazines in doctor’s waiting rooms..) I taught myself to cook by religiously following recipes!

What’s your favourite/least favourite food? What’s been your ultimate meal to date? And what would your last meal be?

First two favourites that come to mind are spaghetti bolognese and Greek stuffed tomatoes. I hate olives! Not sure about my ultimate dish, but I make a mean lasagna. If I was in the UK my last meal would be fish and chips with mushy peas!

How many cookbooks do you own? Who is your favourite celebrity chef and and who is your favourite food writer? Why?

I don’t have that many cookbooks to be honest. But I have hundreds of magazines. Fave food celebrity and writer is definitely Nigella. But I enjoy watching Gordon Ramsay’s shows and thought his autobiography was great.

What’s your signature dish? If you want us to feature your favourite recipe from your own blog, include the link here!

I think that would be my lasagna. Can you believe it’s not on the blog?! I should fix that soon.

Do you have a favourite kitchen tool/appliance? What’s the hottest item on your shopping list? (can be current foodie favourite or a desired gadget/book etc)

My two slow cookers are my favourites! But I’m looking forward to my birthday present from The Mister, a Bosch Mum5 food processor that does just about everything except put the kettle on!
