#FBC10 alumni Reena will be returning to #FBC5 this year. The London-based blogger of Coconutraita (@coconutraita) is balancing her time as a food blogger while training for her Cordon Bleu certificate.
What are you most looking forward to about #FBC5?
I am most looking forward to meeting all the other attendees and feeling inspired and motivated by them. I love being surrounded by like-minded food lovers and the three whole days of talking about nothing but food is my idea of heaven!
Do you blog full time or, if not, what’s your day job? What does your family/partner think of your blog?
I’m currently training for my Cordon Bleu diploma which is more of an “every waking hour” job! Hopefully after the diploma I can get back to actually doing some blogging! My partner and my mother are very supportive of the blog although my father still tells people that I live on frozen fish fingers.
What are your future aspirations for the blog? From where do you get inspiration and who taught you to cook?
I’m hoping to finish documenting my family’s recipes in the next two years. My aunties, my mother and my (female!) cousins are all amazing cooks who have an innate knowledge of which spices to add to a dish and the appropriate quantities. Sadly I think this art is dying and I want to ensure that the recipes are available for future generations in an easy to use format.
What’s your signature dish? If you want us to feature your favourite recipe from your own blog, include the link here!
My signature dish is probably my serial killer chicken curry. Like all of my recipes it is really simple and super tasty.
My favourite kitchen tools are my microplane graters. They have made zesting and grating quick and effortless. However I am really keen to start collecting some cast iron cookware – they are just so satisfying to cook and serve with.
