Toma Mexicano

Sol (@TomaMexicano) an architect in her previous life, has no doubt buildt herself a new home in the glorious world of food. Hailing from Juarez via the US, in 2009 Sol came to the UK to sadly find that there was a lack of proper Mexican cuisine. Soon after threatening to leave upon discovering this diabolical food situation, she decided to take matters into her own hands and end the madness.

While her week days were spent transforming some of London’s oldest spaces into luxury boutique hotels, come Saturday she could be found in the trenches of local market streets slinging some of the best Mexican street food in London with Toma Mexicano. Knowing her weekend ventures were only the first step, Sol decided to pause the architecture to head off and get an MBA.

Sol is speaking at #FBC5 with a session about “Getting On The Streets

Wishing there could have been a little help when she started out, Sol will walk you through the basics in “Getting Out on the Streets.” She will highlight what you need to set yourself up – from dealing with the pesky legals to tips on sourcing your supplies. In “Getting Off the Streets,” Sol will also briefly touch on what to consider when setting up your own restaurant, such as securing funding, building partnerships and knowing your customers. Having had her food featured in JO Magazine and the Independent, and being able to include Gennaro Contaldo, Jamie Oliver and Richard Johnson amongst her patrons, Sol’s talk is most definitely not one to miss.

    Wow, from Juarez to London….I’m from El Paso, Texas, just across the border from Juarez, Mexico and now I live in Germany….it’s a small world. Looking forward to meeting SOL and attending her session!
