Silvana de Soissons (@TheFoodieBugle) is a professional Italian cook who also writes about food and drink. Born into a very foodie Lombard family, growing fresh food, sourcing good ingredients and preparing delicious meals have always been at the heart of her everyday and working life.
In March 2011 she launched The Foodie Bugle, an online co-operative magazine that tells the whole story of good food and drink across the world. It won The Guild of Food Writers New Media Award 2012. The Foodie Bugle Lectures help bring together all the different food and drink artisans, retailers, writers, photographers and consumers that follow, read and contribute to the magazine.
Silvana will be speaking at FBC12 about E-Publishing, telling delegates how and why she designed and created The Foodie Bugle, how she found collaborative writers, photographers and food and drink artisans to take part in the online magazine, how she used social media to direct traffic to it and how she expanded its global reach. Silvana will also highlight the main advantages of creating and writing for such a platform and draw attention to the problems that may arise in the everyday management of such a venture and how to mitigate them.
