We like to keep things sweet at FBC, so Mortimer Chocolates (@MortimerChoc) are the perfect addition to our goodie bag!  We caught up with Mortimer Chocolates to find about their family-run ethos and their delicious chocolate products.

Mortimer Chocolate West African Pure Dark Chocolate Powder

Our Award winning chocolate (Great Taste, Free From Food, Chocolate Festival Nation’s Favourite) was launched in 2006. My husband Adrian, a trained cocoa taster (ex Mars), had spent many years tasting fantastic cocoa mass from around the world.

He was dissappointed that it was being blended to produce a uniform product.   His dream was to enable the consumer to taste the difference in chocolate, depending on the type of cocoa bean and where it was grown. Initially our chocolate was designed to be made into a fantastic hot chocolate, but as a powder it is just so easy to use in cooking too and gives the most wonderful intense chocolate flavour, to your cakes, bakes, puddings and even savoury dishes.  Our daughter has allergies, so it was important to us to make our chocolate free from, nuts, dairy, gluten and soya.

How did you hear about FBC?

We have had very positive repsonses with Food Bloggers who have tried our chocolate.  FBC is an ideal format to engage with many more influential Food bloggers.   For this reason we are putting a bag of our West African Chocolate in your Goodie bags.

How can other bloggers get their hands on your product?

Sainsbury’s stores, in the hot beverage aisle.  Online via Sainsburys and Big Barn.

Twitter is a great paltform to see who is out there and via the links on twitter it is easy to find peoples blogs and websites.  It is so exciting to be able to strike up a conversation with so many food lovers.

What food blogging trends are you enjoying at the minute?

A blog has to come from the heart and all comments must be genuine and impartial.  Great photograpy helps it to stand out from the crowd.

If you could tell people to eat one thing more often what would it be and why?

There are lots of my recipes on our website or via my blog.  Brownies is our customers favourite recipe and what I make to sample at food festivals.
