Meet Veronica from Muy Bueno Cookbook

German-based blogger and Mexican food lover Veronica (@muybuenocooking) tells us about her blog Muy Bueno Cookbook, her cookbook and visiting #FBC5

What are you most looking forward to about #FBC5?

Getting to meet some bloggers face-to-face.

What motivated you to blog about food and how has food blogging changed your life?

My sister, Yvette and I started blogging about food as a way to share our grandmother’s recipes with family and friends. I live in Germany and she lives in Colorado and blogging about our favorite family recipes has kept us connected to each other and mom. Blogging eventually lead to the publication of our cookbook, Muy Bueno Cookbook: Three Generations of Authentic Mexican Flavor. Blogging has opened up soooo many doors and I’ve met some amazing bloggers, photographers, chefs, and had the chance to travel a ton.

Do you blog full time or, if not, what’s your day job? What does your family think of your blog?

I feel like I blog full time, but I do teach Spanish part time. My husband and children are extremely supportive of my blog and blogging ventures. They know never to eat anything in the kitchen for fear that it’s part of a recipe I haven’t shot yet.

What are your future aspirations for the blog? From where do you get inspiration and who taught you to cook?

I learned to cook as a little girl by helping mom in the kitchen and watching my grandmother cook some of my favorite recipes. I’ve learned a lot by trial and error too. I get my inspiration for cooking from whatever is in season, holidays, and other bloggers. We will continue to blog for as long as we can.

Which other food bloggers do you follow most closely? Tell us something you learned from reading blogs you probably wouldn’t know otherwise?

I love White on Rice, Matt Bites, Roost, and What Katie Ate…all these blogs inspire me to become a better writer and I adore their photography.

How many cookbooks do you own? Who is your favourite celebrity chef and and who is your favourite food writer? Why?

I’ve lost count of my cookbooks. I don’t even want to start counting them…It might make me feel guilty and keep me from buying more.

What’s your signature dish? If you want us to feature your favourite recipe from your own blog, include the link here!

I love my mom’s Green Enchiladas. They make my mouth water just thinking about them!

Do you have a favourite kitchen tool/appliance? What’s the hottest item on your shopping list?

I can’t live without my lemon/lime squeezer. Whenever I travel and I know I will be cooking or preparing food I always travel with one. I have several different sizes and colors too.
