What are you most looking forward to about #FBC5?
Giving my talk on how to get published in magazines, as well as meeting blogger friends, learning new tips and ideas in food blogging as well as enjoying the pop up food stalls!
What motivated you to blog about food and how has food blogging changed your life?
I started to blog about food after my full-time writing job for a major magazine ended, due to the magazine closing down. It has changed my life so much by opening up NEW writing opportunities and I am currently working with a literary agent to publish my first book.
Do you blog full time or, if not, what’s your day job? What does your family/partner think of your blog?
I blog full time, and my day time job is a free-lance food writer and food stylist; my family are VERY proud of me and what I have achieved, and are my most ardent supporters, as well as being my guinea pigs for new recipes!
What are your future aspirations for the blog? From where do you get inspiration and who taught you to cook?
I plan to add more videos and start an interactive page on my site, almost like a forum. I gain all my inspiration from the seasons, current food trends and old family cookbooks. My mum and maternal grandmother taught me to cook.
Which other food bloggers do you follow most closely? Tell us something you learned from reading blogs you probably wouldn’t know otherwise?
I follow hundreds of other food blogs and read a variety of them on a daily basis. I have learned many useful tips from other sites, especially food photography sites, where some of the tips I have picked up have helped me with my own food photography.
What’s your favourite/least favourite food? What’s been your ultimate meal to date? And what would your last meal be?
I love ALL food but I have to admit to being not very keen on offal! My last meal would be fish and chips, eaten out of newspaper, on a North Yorkshire breach……..
How many cookbooks do you own? Who is your favourite celebrity chef and and who is your favourite food writer? Why?
I own over 600 cookbooks! It is a bit of an obsession, and I refer to them almost daily, but usually end up tweaking each and every recipe I try!
What’s your signature dish? If you want us to feature your favourite recipe from your own blog, include the link here!
I have many signature dishes, so I am told, but I am well known for my chicken, apricot and preserved lemon tagine with harissa, as well as my home-made pies.
Do you have a favourite kitchen tool/appliance? What’s the hottest item on your shopping list? (can be current foodie favourite or a desired gadget/book etc)
I LOVE my new Kenwood Titanium Chef, as well as my grandmother’s rolling pin – old and modern!
