Leemei Tan (@MyCookingHut) is a cookbook author, food blogger, photographer and stylist. Her debut cookbook – Lemongrass and Ginger: Vibrant Asian Recipes was released in April 2012.
Born in Malaysia, she lives in London and travels extensively, sharing both her recipes and travel experiences in her popular food blog My Cooking Hut which attracts visitors from all around the world.
She has been interviewed by the New York Times and was featured in Grazia magazine as one of the best female food bloggers. Leemei has had recipes published in several UK & international food magazines including Delicious, Olive Magazine, The French Paper, Flavours & Duo Magazine. She has also contributed to other cookbooks including Foodies of the World and Thinkfood.Leemei will be speaking at FBC12 to help others get the behind the scenes nitty gritty pleasures and pains of writing a debut cookbook. Her guidelines and helpful hints will ease any aspiring author to make those first steps a little easier and leap into the world of cookbooks. Leemei will discuss the elements of a book proposal from pitching, negotiating and landing the book deal to understanding and working with the format and styling of the book, working with a publishing house, editors, home economists, and photographers and even shed light on book launches and distributions.
