Food blogger Gabriella will be joining us all the way from lovely San Sebastian, Spain, where she runs her TenedourTours blog (@tenedor) to attend #FBC5. While we can’t compete with the Basque Country weather here in London, Gabriella told us why she’s excited about attending.
Everything. Especially the branding and photography workshops.
What motivated you to blog about food and how has food blogging changed your life?
I have always been involved with the food in the Basque Country and through my work with the media was instrumental in bringing it to the attention of the international food world. I figured it was time to tell my side of the story.
Do you blog full time or, if not, what’s your day job? What does your family/partner think of your blog?
No, in fact I am just starting to do it. My day job is as a food and wine travel consultant and doing culinary communications for restaurants. I also give cooking classes.
What are your future aspirations for the blog? From where do you get inspiration and who taught you to cook?
I hope to incorporate video into the blog as well as more recipes. I am inspired by the great chefs I work with. I am a self taught cook.
Not Without Salt, Gluten Free Girl, CannelleVanille and David Lebovitz, britishlarder and superkitchenmachine (because I am obsessed with my thermomix). I have learned about photography from blogging.
What’s your favourite/least favourite food? What’s been your ultimate meal to date? And What would your last meal be?
My favorite food is grilled anchovies. I eat out for a living and so my favorite meal was usual my last but I have had some extraordinary meals at The Ledbury, Etxebarri and Arzak. My last meal would be cinnamon toast.
How many cookbooks do you own? Who is your favourite celebrity chef and and who is your favourite food writer? Why?
I own dozens of cookbooks. My favorite celebrity chef is Juan Mari Arzak. I also like Jaime Oliver for his communication skills. MFK Fisher was my favorite food writer. I also loved Johnny Apple.
Chocolate Tarta de Santiago.
Do you have a favourite kitchen tool/appliance? What’s the hottest item on your shopping list? (can be current foodie favourite or a desired gadget/book etc)
My favorite appliance is the Thermomix. I would love to have a sous vide set up.
