Gran Luchito (@Luchito_mexico) is a smoked chilli salsita made in Mexico from five rare Oaxacan chillie, including Pasilla Oaxaca. The chillies are dried and smoked in a traditional way by the mixes farmers, and obtained directly form them. Gran Luchito was borne out of a frustration at not being able to find premium Mexican grocery products in the market.
It has a round deep flavour, an unmistakable smokiness, a hint of agave sweetness, notes of garlic, and of course, the heat from the chillies.
The new product has already attracted a loyal following from chef’s and foodies. Tom Parker-Bowles described Gran Luchito as a kitchen essential; and Dock Kitchen founder, Stevie Parle, said it can transform food from mundane to fabulous.
Gran Luchito is available at Fortnum & Mason, Wholefoods and in around 60 delis. Thanks to its rave reviews, Gran Luchito adds 2 new products: Gran Luchito Mayo and Gran Luchito Honey.
