Today we are meeting the lovely Dominic Franks from Belleau, Lincolnshire. Dominic is the food blogger behind Belleau Kitchen.
What motivated you to blog about food?
I’ve always loved food and cooking but I was stimulated to start blogging after watching Julie and Julia, I started Belleau Kitchen that night.
What celebrity or celebrity chef would you most like to break bread with? Why?
Delia Smith… She is the TV chef from my generation and is often over-looked or lampooned these days by the more glamorous Nigella but she is the queen of cooking as far as I’m concerned and I’d love to sit down and chat to her about life and food
What’s been your ultimate meal to date?
there’s a small restaurant that clings to the side of the Pacific Ocean in California not far from Big Sur called Nepenthe and it makes the best burgers in the world…
How has food blogging changed your life?
totally and completely. It has given me a focus I never thought I had. I have also met some lovely people with the same passion as me.
Future aspirations for the blog?
I would eventually like a cookbook but I have just had 2 articles commissioned by Lincolnshire Life Magazine based on my blog writing, which I’m very proud of!
What do you find most challenging about blogging?
To be original without being forced
Tell us something you learned from reading blogs you probably wouldn’t know otherwise?
How to ice fairy cakes properly and that you can microwave mushrooms
Where do you buy your groceries and why?
In the summer I grow a lot of my own salad but at other times I like my local Morrison’s Supermarket. They have a lot of local produce, their fresh fish and meat is very very good and the price suits my lifestyle.
What’s the hottest item on your shopping list?
Eggs are always there… But if Leisure want to send me an electric 90cm Traditional Range in black, I wouldn’t grumble…
