Felicity Cloake (@felicitycloake), Guild of Food Writers’ Food Journalist of the Year and New Media Award winner 2011, is a food columnist for the Guardian and the New Statesman, and has also written on food and drink for the Financial Times, the Daily Telegraph, Metro and the Daily Mail, amongst others. Her first book, Perfect: 68 Essential Recipes for Every Cook’s Repertoire (Fig Tree, £18.99) came out last year, and she’s currently working on a second, Perfect Host, to be published in May 2013. Her weekly Guardian recipe column, ‘How to Make the Perfect…’ has been running for over two years, both online and in the newspaper, covering everything from simple classics like the bacon sandwich right through to more daunting propositions like Thai green curry and French macarons.
Felicity will be speaking at FBC12 on the subject of recipe development and writing. She’ll talk through the whole process of recipe creation, from initial research to recipe testing, providing tips on how to write reader-friendly recipes, how to edit your own work – and, most importantly, how to make a recipe your own.
