Ellen Silverman is a freelance photographer who lives and works in New York City. Her primary focus is food photography. She has photographed over 25 cookbooks including Gwyneth Paltrow’s “My Father’s Daughter”, Sally Swift and Lynne Rossetto Kasper’s “The Splendid Table Cookbook”, Kurt Guttenbruner’s “Neue Cuisine”, and Mindy Fox’s just released, “Salads: Beyond the Bowl” to name a few.
This summer, she will be photographing Daphne Oz’s upcoming book. Her clients also include Chobani Yogurt, Union Square Hospitality Group Restaurants, Bertucci’s Restaurant Group, Bird’s Eye, Campbell’s Soup, Kraft Cheese. She also shoots for many editorial clients such as La Cucina Italia, Country Living and Sweet Paul, just to name a few.
In edition to her commercial work, she has been working on a personal project entitled “Spare Beauty – The Cuban Kitchen. This work is the result of several trips to Cuba over the past year and a half and was shown in New York this past March at the Umbrella Arts Gallery. Ellen will be holding a four hour food photography and styling workshop at FBC12 teaching hands-on elements of food photography, lighting, camera angles, food and prop styling, paginating and editing images.
