Bloggers On Food and Wine & Scaredy Cat Kitchen Buddy-Up to Attend #FBC14

Coming together across the blog-osphere to attend FBC – meet Andrea and Christine who buddied together to join the community of bloggers at #FBC14!

First up! Adding a bit of European flavour to FBC14 is Andreea from Brussels.  Andreea’s food blog, On Food and Wine (@onfoodandwine), combines food and travel.  She answered some of our questions about her first FBC later this summer.

What are you most excited for at Food Blogger Connect this year?

Screen Shot 2014-04-06 at 3.58.41 PMAs it is my first time .. oh where should I start? To listen, to learn, to take it all in and most of all share a fun filled 3 days with foodie minds.

Tell us a bit about your buddy!

I found my buddy via FBC14 – Christina from @ScaredyKitchen – and I was so lucky to have found her so soon. We immediately clicked and a few hours later our tickets were booked. No channel stopped us 🙂 In the meantime I love checking out her foodie adventures.  I can never resist G&T in the best of cases … but to find them in a cupcake? I was sold!

Tell us a bit about your blog!

I love sharing my foodie finds and sometimes recipe disasters on my blog. Generally I find blogging to be my creative outlet and I hope in time to advance this to more – a foodie guide on Brussels is my dream!

Which other food bloggers do you follow most closely?

I enjoy classics such as Chocolate & Zucchini, the Pioneer Women Cooks, Delicious:Days etc – I probably find a bit of holiday feeling in these blogs and for a few hours live through someone else’s kitchen.

What’s your signature dish?

Brunch! I don’t have a signature dish as such (although I make a great blue cheese quiche) but everything and all to do with brunch…I am your girl!

Do you have a favourite kitchen tool/appliance?

Kitchen towels – seriously versatile. And would love, space allowing, to own a KitchenAid one day.

Christina (@scaredykitchen), on the other hand, is a Londoner who doesn’t have far to go on the day to attend FBC14!  This Londoner tells us about her new blog, Scaredy Cat Kitchen

What are you most excited for at Food Blogger Connect this year?

I’ve never attended FBC before, I’m looking forward to learning some ways to improve my blog and I can’t wait to meet some other food bloggers, especially my buddy!

Tell us a bit about your buddy!

My buddy is Andreea of On Food and Wine, she’s based in Brussels and blogs about the local food culture. She makes me want to book myself onto the Eurostar and go for a beer in Brussels immediately! We met on Twitter and @bloggerconnect helped us buddy up.  I’m liking Andreea’s A-Z of commune dinners in Brussels. You’ve got to love an A-Z and I’m going to have a serious list of restaurants to go to if I ever make it to Brussels!

Tell us a bit about your blog.

I mainly blog about recipes I’m obsessed with each week, usually with plenty of photographs. I spend all week at my desk, staring at spreadsheets and daydreaming about what I’m going to cook that weekend. I used to be a little unadventurous in my cooking (hence the ‘scaredy cat’) so my blog is a way of daring myself to try something new and be a little experimental. I’m still in the first year of running a blog, so I’m not too sure where it’s going, I just know I’m having fun right now.

Which other food bloggers do you follow most closely?

I’m a big fan of Joy the Baker, Shutterbean and Smitten Kitchen. I love their sense of humour. I’m always drawn in by blogs that make me laugh and that I can relate to, it’s what I aim for with my writing. I also love their photography. I’ve learnt so many tips and tricks I couldn’t possibly list them. But probably the most important thing is to be yourself in your blog, write it for you and no one else, if other people like it then hurrah.

What’s your signature dish?

Oh gosh, I’m not sure I have what you’d call a signature dish, but the dish I’m most proud of is my blueberry polenta cake with lavender syrup. It was definitely pretty popular with my friends!

Do you have a favourite kitchen tool/appliance?

I love, love, love my kitchen aid mixer. I’d lusted after them for several years so when I got the chance to buy one, I was a very happy girl. It’s red and beautiful and it equipped me to make marshmallows! Heaven! On my shopping list right now is some good quality tequila, I have margarita plans.
