What celebrity or celebrity chef would you most like to break bread with? Why?
Without a doubt Marco Pierre White – I interviewed him for nearly two hours recently at the opening of his Titanic restaurant in Dubai and he had me completely mesmerised. Aside from kicking off the celebrity chef trend in the UK, I loved his candour at his now hands-off approach – he tells a great story and would make riveting dinner party conversation!
What’s the hottest item on your shopping list?
The new i-phone so I can start using the camera/ Instagram for my restaurant reviews.
What are you most looking forward to about #FBC12?
Dianne Jacob’s writing workshop and the main reason I signed up, in addition to the networking opportunities.
What motivated you to blog about food?
Aside from a passion for eating out and discovering new restaurants, Dubai had a real gap for an online resource dedicated to impartial restaurant reviews – hence the launch of FooDiva.
How has food blogging changed your life?
Turning a passion into a job and loving every minute!
Do you blog full time? What’s your day job?
Yes but at the same time I have a number of other hats – a freelance journalist, PR consultant and trainer.
What’s the next big thing that’s going to hit the food scene?
Here in Dubai, chefs for hire setting up shop to meet demand for at-home entertainment thus limiting the expense on alcohol.
Do you have a favourite food writer and why?
Giles Coren, The Times restaurant critic – his reviews debate the whole dining out experience not just food (all equally important I feel) and he tells it all with a good dose of humour.
