60 Seconds with #FBC14 Buddies Cakeyboi and Tinned Tomatoes

FBC is excited to announce our first buddy pairing – Stuart from Cakeyboi (@MrCakeyBoi) and Jacqueline from Tinned Tomatoes (@tinnedtoms) who will both be joining us all the way from Scotland.  When these buddies aren’t working on their blogs, they’re co-organising their local branch of the Clandestine Cake Club together.  We started with Stuart. Welcome to FBC Stuart, where are you coming from this year?

What are you most excited for at Food Blogger Connect this year? Have you attended FBC in the past?
This will be my first time. I am looking forward to meeting other bloggers and learning lots.
Tell us a bit about your buddy’s blog and your buddy – how did you find her blog and what do you enjoy about it?
My buddy is Jacqueline Meldrum, her blog is Tinned Tomatoes (@tinnedtoms) . We met at the Dundee Clandestine Cake Club. She is my mentor and gives me loads of great advice. Her blog is a total inspiration to all food bloggers.
Tell us a bit about your blog – what’s your inspiration and what do you hope to do with it (either directly to the blog or related, such as a cookbook or food stall?)
I started my blog after joining the cake club. Others recommended I start writing about my baking adventures. I’d love to have a cookbook some day.
Which other food bloggers do you follow most closely? Tell us something you learned from reading other blogs you probably wouldn’t know otherwise?
The Baking Explorer, United Cakedom, Keep Calm and Fanny On, Cupcake Crazy Gem. So many! Other blogs taught me to interact more!
What’s your signature dish? If you want us to feature your favourite recipe or post from your own blog, include the link here!
My most popular post is my recipe for Trifle cupcakes
Do you have a favourite kitchen tool/appliance? What’s the hottest item on your shopping list?

I couldn’t be without my Kenwood mixer! On my shopping list are gingerbread flavoured m&m’s! FBC14 Badge   Hi, Jacqueline!  Tell us a bit about you and your blog?

DSCF2211I have been writing my recipe blog Tinned Tomatoes (@tinnedtoms) since April 2007. I focus on simple vegetarian and vegan food for families. I live in Scotland with my 4 year old and husband.
Where are you coming from this year?
Dundee in Scotland.

I am excited to meet up with everyone again and meet new people. Of course I am also looking forward to learning lots and tasting some delicious food.
Tell us a bit about your buddy’s blog and your buddy – how did you find his/her blog and what do you enjoy about it?
My buddy is Stuart Vettese who writes Cakeyboi (@MrCakeyBoi). He bakes the most amazing cakes. I met Stuart at my chapter of the Clandestine Cake Club and he has since joined me as co-host. He was inspired to start his blog after chatting about his baking. It’s great to have a blogger who lives near by for chats as most of my blogging buddies are scattered around the world.
What is your favourite post by your buddy?
Although I would have to veggie it up, I love Stuart’s Trifle cupcakes. Have a look at them, they super droolworthy! I think it is his most popular post too.

My blog is recipe based. I plan to continue posting recipes regularly. I’ve had a lot of paid freelance work through my blog and I’m a regular blogger at Baby Centre and Great British Chefs. I plan to continue with these for the time being. I may make plans once my wee one is at school.

Which other food bloggers do you follow most closely? Tell us something you learned from reading other blogs you probably wouldn’t know otherwise?
There are so many blogs I visit regularly and love. It’s hard to thin it down really. My favourite veggie/vegan blogs are Amuse Your Bouche, Green Gourmet Giraffe, Allotment 2 Kitchen, VegHotPot & Fat Free Vegan. I mostly feel hungry after visiting their blogs, but they are a source of inspiration too.
What’s your signature dish? If you want us to feature your favourite recipe or post from your own blog, include the link here!
I love my Cajun Spiced Black Bean Burgers and they have proved to be exceedingly popular.
Do you have a favourite kitchen tool/appliance? What’s the hottest item on your shopping list?
I couldn’t manage without my Vitamix. I am totally in love with it.
