Based in Provence, Angela Billows is the writer behind Provence Calling (@provencecalling). Angela splits her time between Gloucestershire and Provence, France, where she finds the inspiration for her cooking particularly in the local food markets.
What motivated you to blog about food?
have always been interested in food, in particular with relation to different cultures.
What’s your signature dish?
Anything Provencal, Fish soup, salad Nicoise, daube
What’s been your ultimate meal to date
A bowl of fish soup cooked on a single burner in a hut on a beach in Mexico
What’s your least favourite food
Do you have a favourite food writer and why?
Prudence Grey, because she combined food recipes with her life in Italy and and Greece learning how the peasants cooked the local food
Do you blog full time? What’s your day job
I am also a costume designer for films and commercials
What do you find most challenging about blogging?
The most challenging thing about food blogging is that you have to be good at many different things, photography, writing, computer knowledge etc.
How has food blogging changed your life?
Blogging has enabled me to do something with my curiosity about food
Who taught you to cook?
I taught myself and read a lot of Woman’s Own recipes growing up
